!!Back to school!!

I'm looking forward to going back to school because I haven't seen any of my friends in over six whole weeks. Staying at home has been fun. Especially with sleeping in and staying up late. I want to go back to school to see my friends but I don't want a early start in the mornings. I liked the covid-19 lockdown because I got to spend time with my family. I hope you did too.

Minecraft bat 
I made a Minecraft bat and I had no image of one. I had to try and remember what one looked like and I think it turned out ok.

On Thursday 7th may my mum gave me a list of 20 random words that I had to make a story out of. the words were sausage, pie, elves, friends, cabin, tyre, barrel, rain, spicy, ketchup, solar, tui, jumper, eyes, plug, jet plane, fish, plate, kettle. the story had to be illustrated and the story had to make sense and have all 20 words in it. Hears what I came up with.

what I made for mum

for mothers day i made my mum a cool necklace out of loom bands and one of her old necklaces. I put one of the butter fly's from her old necklace and put it together with the loom bands. I had to thread the loom bands through the holes on the back of the wings.

I also made her a plant pot holder. The plant pot holder was made out of wood and then I painted it. Then she put a plant in it. it was made out of some left over wood. 

 

with all of this came a funny card. 

 my mum loved all of these things.

How I'm liking lockdown

how I'm liking lockdown 

I'm enjoying lockdown because of no school. In this blog I,m going to tell you the things i am enjoying about lockdown.

1. In the morning for school normally you have to get up get and dressed into your school uniform. also you have to pack your bag witch is annoying. In lockdown I'm enjoying not having to do these things. Its a lot easier to not do these things.

2. on normal school days you have to get up early when your tired and sleepy. In lockdown I can sleep for longer and not worry about getting in the car and getting driven to school.

3.  3:10 is the end of school normally for me normally. In lockdown school ends when i've finished my work.   

4. At school you have different times of day for different stuff like writing for 1 hour. In lockdown I have as long as I like to do these things.

I'm not really enjoying the online meet because the connections lag a lot. I'm managing it fine doing the activities and stuff but still prefer normal school.

Zucchini Fritters

Zucchini Fritters

On Wednesday the twenty sixth of February the whole of Hoiho class made zucchini fritters for the school. First we had to get the supplies to make them. Then everyone except me and Harmony-Jade grated the zucchinis. Next we put the zucchini gratings in a bowl and added salt so all the water would drain out of them.

Afterwards we made gluten free flour and regular flour.

We cracked eggs into a bowl and added parsley. The parsley was freshly picked by me and Reid. Then we had to chop the parsley into fine pieces. Afterwards we put the parsley, spring onions and the flower into the bowls then mixed it up.

We finished mixing the batter so we carried them down to the Kea class so we could cook them. We put them into a pan so they could cook.

Meanwhile me, Harlyn, Elizabeth and Harmony-Jade made a lettuce, tomato, chickpea and zucchini salad.

Ms Cummins finished cooking the fritters. The fritters looked like pancakes. Most of us got bored and started to get silly. So we went to set up outside. Everyone except me and Evannah ate a fritter.I hate zucchini!!

1. Hoiho is the Māori name for the Yellow Eyed penguin, what does the word Hoiho mean?

The name hoiho stands for noisy shouter.

2. In video 1, they talk about the penguins coming in to ‘molt’. What do they do out at sea before

they come into the beach to molt?

They eat before they came in to molt

3. Why do they need to do this?

So there new waterproof feathers can grow in and replace the old ones 

4. What does the word ‘molt’ mean?  

shed old feathers, hair, or skin to make way for a new growth.

5. What was important to each penguin on the beach?

Personal space. They are very territorial.
